Why PAWs?

As an introvert, it's been easier to spend my time with animals rather than people. And it seems like a dream that I'm making a career out of spending my day with animals.  I can't believe people choose me over the many people in the area to take care of their beloved pet. It's so humbling that others let me blend motherhood with my business.  It's an overall joy (because the cranky toddler who needs a nap, but doesn't believe that, can be exhausting) to have my children learn the value of serving others.  There is never a dull moment when dogs and toddlers are combined.

2018-2020

Began My Pet Sitting Journey

Since starting my journey in 2018 on the Rover platform, I've discovered a genuine passion for pet care. I'm proud of the positive reviews I've received, reflecting my dedication and love for animals. Feel free to explore my Rover profile and see how I started caring for furry friends!

2020-2023

Struck Out Off Rover

In 2020, I started going off platform since people were finding me on Facebook and word of mouth. Gleaning knowledge from podcasts, Facebook groups and the streets, I've come to feel I was ready to enter the realm of "professional".

In 2021, I acquired business insurance through Pet Care Insurance.

In 2023 I started using software called "Time To Pet" to streamline my clients, visits and payments. I also switched to a leash system called "Tiny Horse" to make my life easier while walking dogs. Stumbled upon a pet friendly disinfectant cleaner to use on my gear to prevent the spread of pet illnesses. I now wipe my leashes after each use with REScue wipes.

2024

Went Professional

In 2024, I started knocking off my "Become a Professional" list.

I formed my LLC, "Pioneer Animal Walkers".

I joined Pet Sitter's International, the world's leading educational organization for professional pet sitters. Check out my PSI Profile for reviews.

Renewed my background check through Acutaq.

Switched my business insurance to the Business Insurers of the Carolinas and also became bonded.

Time to Pet software has the ability to GPS track my walks, but I found out and started using an app called WoofTrax to track our walks. Not only does it track our walk around the neighborhood, each walk earns money for an animal charity. This year we are walking for St. Louis Senior Dog Project.  Want to help your favorite local charity while walking your dog? Go download the WoofTax app to help make a difference.

Courses I've completed through Pet Sitter's International:

  • Pet First Aid and CPCR Certified

  • Certified Professional Pet Sitter

  • Mini Course: Lost Dog Behavior

In 2025, a lot has been happening in the background.

May 1: I joined the Kirkwood-Des Peres Area Chamber of Commerce.
